February 2008 - Loughton Data Centre Site Gets Planning Permission for 2 Data Centres.

Pioneer Technology has been appointed as the principal consultant to over see the dual Data Centre project at the former Bank of England site in Loughton Essex. Planning was granted on February 6th 2008 by Epping Forest Council for the construction of 2 Data Centres at the location.

“This is fantastic news and the site is gaining interest from a number of city of London based companies due to it’s location and ease of access from London. We are very optimistic of securing an early tenant as a result of the interest shown so far and the demand for space in the market.”

March 2007 - DATA CENTRES EUROPE AWARDS CEREMONY 22 March 2007.

''It’s time to wake up!”

Nigel Clarkson MD Pioneer TechnologyIn front of an audience of some 150 IT/Data Centre professionals Nigel Clarkson, MD Pioneer Technology, opened the 2nd day (March 22nd 2007) of the Data Centres Europe Conference with some thought provoking messages.

“It’s time to wake up, a unified strategy for IT and Data Centres is required but you don’t need to wait for new technology or legislation because there are pragmatic steps that can be taken now.”

Clarkson went on to say, “Sorting out your own back yard and seeking quick wins should be the responsibility of the business or corporation, establish internal governance with clear targets to ensure improvements is a quick win responsibility.”

“The Data Centre should be a board room Agenda item due to the costs, availability, Green issues and potential legislative impacts on future developments with some companies at potential business risk due to poor planning.”

Clarkson closed with the message, “Don’t panic, but start taking responsible decisions now and don’t try and beat the laws of physics with unrealistic demands.”

January 2007 - Pioneer Technology sees increased demand and interest in the UK market.

With the continuing lack of available raised floor data space and demand now far outstripping supply, Pioneer Technology has seen a renewed interest in sites that have available power and have the immediate capability to be developed.  Looking currently at sites that have this capability within the M25, , there are only three, with several more under consideration by developers but not providing immediacy.

This has created a ‘sellers market’ with developers seeing a considerable interest from occupiers to secure access to solutions to create readily available development opportunities of data centre space.

Nigel Clarkson, MD Pioneer Technology -  “it is apparent that many large organisations and major blue chip companies have realised that their Data Centre strategies need attention now.  We have seen demand coming from both outsources, corporate and financial institutions, but it is apparent , with demand as high as it currently is, that all these requirements will not be fulfilled.

Pioneer is an obvious answer to help resolve the more forward thinking organisations that have woken up to the issues that are potential show stopping business problems if they are not resolved. The Data Centre is becoming a board room risk agenda item as CIO’s inform their CEO, CFO and directors of the criticality of the situation.”

Our strategic plans for growth in the UK and Australia remain on track and with a buoyant market continuing to sustain the momentum of  the end of 2006 Pioneer is certain it will delivery more Data Centre space through it association with Spire Technology this year to add to its growing list of completed projects.

November 2006 - Welwyn Garden City Data Centre works underway.

Spire Technology secured the Welwyn Garden City in November 2006 and has planning and power applications approved to transform the former Sommerfield/Safeway Distribution Depot into a modern state of the art Data Centre. December 2006 saw no time wasted with the commencement of the demolition works as part of the first phase of the project. A Marketing suite was one of the first initiatives and is now close to completion. Interest in the site has been very positive.

2006 - Pioneer Opens talks with Managed Service Providers

Pioneer Technology continues with its strategy to develop capability to augment its own core skills through the engagement with Managed Service operators to provide “smart hands” and “Outsourced Managed Services.

Steve Allen, Business Development Director, “being able to extend our offering to our clients is key to our services strategy, partnering with high value managed services operators and IT specialist gives us added credibility and enables Pioneer to be the single solution provider in the market – tackling some of the most complex IT issues into a single integrated solutions package.”
